Women's Golf Groups

There are a number of other women's groups which play golf in the area.  For your convenience, we have listed some here.  There are local, regional and state organizations/groups. For additional Bella Visa POA golf groups, please see the POA Group Play website or download the 2023 Golf Groups book.

If you are a facilitator for a group and would like to have your group added to this list, please email us (see link in sidebar) your group name, a contact name and a summary of group play.

2nd & 4th Monday Ladies Handicap Match Play

Contact Jan Simms (479-544-5433)

Our group plays 2nd & 4th Mondays April through October. We have a Spring organizational meeting and a Fall luncheon. There are currently 24 full time players, divided evenly into 4 teams. At our Spring organizational meeting, each team elects a Captain and Co-Captain and team name. $7.00 is paid by each team member and is distributed to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place team at the Fall luncheon. Membership is open to all handicap levels as openings occur. Our substitute list is always open and is a good way to get to know us. We play a competitive, friendly match play game utilizing each players current handicap; and, when possible meet afterwards in the clubhouse for a beverage and socializing. If interested in joining full-time or as a substitute player, please call Peggy Crabtree.

Ladies' 18-Hole Scratch Match Play

Contact Wanda Barton, Linda Ekiss, Linda Roberts

This group meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month from April to October. Teams are set as equally as possible by the handicap index at the end of the previous year.  Competition is governed by "scratch" play, no handicaps. This group is always open to inquiries for joining and/or substituting.  Contact Wanda Barton for more information.

Tuesday Tees

Contact Mary Riorden

This group consists of 20 regular members who play 18 holes every Tuesday from April through the end of October.  However, we need numerous substitutes!  Each week one of the regulars is designated as the "Captain" and must decide what the game will be for the entire group.  Every player puts in $1.00 each week for the game and the group normally pays out first, second and third place for the game that week.  We also have lunch afterwards or a beverage of your choice while waiting for all the teams to finish their rounds.  This group is made up of women from all handicap levels.  We were and will continue to be a group of women who get together and have fun playing golf.  If you would like to learn more about the group, please contact Mary Riorden.

State Groups

Regional Groups

NWAWGA

The Northwest Arkansas Women's Golf Association (NWAWGA) is an organization whose objective is the promotion of women's golf in Northwest Arkansas. Any women's golf association in Northwest Arkansas may belong to the NWAWGA by paying annual dues and by being approved by the NWAWGA Board. There are four official tournaments a year which are called NWAWGA Invitationals. Off year tournaments at individual member clubs are run by their representatives and are called Invitational Tournaments only. NWAWGA tournaments are open to members only while member club Invitational tournaments are open to non-members also. Bella Vista Women's Golf Club is a member of the NWA group and thus all of our members are also members and eligible to play in NWA tournaments.

Our NWA representative is Brenda Alexander.

Bi-States

The Bi-States events are held at each member club yearly at a date the host club picks. It is supposed to be bare bones, just for fun and fellowship. 3 balls are awarded as prizes for first net and first gross, 2 balls for second etc. A simple lunch is included. All tourneys are individual stroke play events and pre-flighted according to handicap. Greens and cart fees are usually between $25 and $40 depending on the club.

The easiest way to sign up to play with this organization is to join the Stonebridge Meadows group for $5.00 per year. Linda Canclini is the secretary/treasurer. Bella Vista women may send a check made out to SMWGA in the amount of $5.00 to Linda Canclini, 74 Rivercliff Rd., Rogers, AR   72756. One should include one's address, phone number and email address.

Valley Days

The Valley Days program is similar to the Bi-State Tournaments in the Fort Smith area. There are six clubs from Sallisaw to Conway that host one tournament a year at their course.  These are "bare bones" tournaments, awarding golf balls for prizes and lunch is included.  The entry fee is a  reasonable $20 for members of Valley Days clubs and $25 for guests.

Each Club has a representative who collects the entries.  Contact Christie Mahl cmahol80@gmail.com if you have questions.  The tournament and specific contact person are listed on our Tournaments page.
